Travel and Infection Risks

Certain infectious diseases can be harmful to pregnant women and the fetus/child. Occasionally, outbreaks of such infectious diseases may occur in certain countries. This may mean that special precautions should be considered if, during pregnancy or when planning a pregnancy, there are plans to travel to areas with a high prevalence of diseases that may pose a risk to the fetus. We recommend staying informed about diseases and the risk of infection on the health authorities' websites. Information is available on the Danish Health Authority’s website, www.sst.dk, and the Statens Serum Institut’s website, www.ssi.dk.
